Celeste & Tom

From the first time we met Celeste, we could tell that Vermont was a special place for her. It was only natural that she would marry Tom up there at Mount Snow Resort (with the after party at the bar where they met, no less!) She looks effortlessly beautiful in HB6622 and we love the way she referenced her South African origins with a Protea bouquet by Linden Garden Florist. Thank you so much to Ellen O'Connor Photography for sharing and congratulations again to this lovely couple!

Saja: How did you meet?

Celeste: My local dive bar, Dover Bar and Grill in Mount Snow, VT. He had just moved to town and I was celebrating a recent break up with a bar crawl. Who said you can't meet a man in a bar!
Saja: How did he propose?

Celeste: When we got serious Tom said to me that having children was a deal breaker. I had just spent the last 3 years coming to terms with the idea that I was getting to old and selfish to have children. After a visit to my niece and nephew, I changed my mind. I had a man by my side who would be an amazing father, how could I pass it up. When I told him that I would have children, he said that we would need to get married. I said no way! He let it go, he was happy enough with the idea of having children.

Fast forward a few months. I'm having a couple glasses of wine with my girlfriend and by the end of the evening I was marrying him. I woke up in the morning saying that it was all crazy talk. I sat with it for a few days and I realized it wasn't so crazy. I had the most amazing, loving special man and I'd be a fool not to marry him.

My friend was supposed to secretly get him to propose. Instead we were all in the living room one day and she blurted out that we were getting married. You should have seen his face. He immediately said that I didn't want to get married but then looked at me. The grin of my face said it all.

But I did want a real proposal so after asking my parent's permission, Tom took me to Boston. I had been in New York and when I got to the room there was a trail of rose petals to the bed where there were more rose petals, a rose and the 'box'. He got down on one knee and the rest is history.     Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there?

Celeste: The ceremony was on the top of Mount Snow Ski Resort. I'm an avid skier and feel very connected to the mountain. It's a special place in my heart and beside the views are gorgeous!Saja: Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed?

Celeste: My flowers. I'm originally from South Africa and the national flower is the Protea. I went through heaven and hell to get them and it was worth it all. My bouquet was absolutely stunning and all we needed for my bridesmaid's bouquets were a ribbon. The significance of having the flowers at my wedding represent my home country meant a lot to me. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why?

Celeste: The one where I'm walking alone with my bouquet and head down. I didn't know they were taking a picture of me which makes it so natural. I also like the one where my Dad lifted up my veil. Oh and the one where Tom is looking at me come down the aisle and is like 'oh man, I get to marry that lady!'. Oh and the one where he's dipping me on our first dance. Oh and...ok I'll stop now.
Saja: What was your favorite part of the day?

Celeste: Oh boy, that's hard to say. Getting ready with my girls was fun and stress free. The ceremony was quick and painless yet incredibly special. The reception was an absolute blast. The afterparty was at the local bar where we met. However nothing could touch being surrounded by so many family and friends from near and really far. Also not only was I on cloud nine the whole time, it appeared like all the guests were on the same high!
