Whitney and Brian met while studying abroad in Alcala den Henares, Spain during their junior year at Loyola College in 2006. The two were lucky enough to have an amazing experience traveling throughout Europe together and have been inseparable ever since! She is stunning in RC6257 and their intimate outdoor wedding on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay is nothing short of breathtaking... Thank you so much to Natalie Lane Photography for sharing!
Saja: How did he propose?
Whitney: Brian asked me to marry him on June 21, 2013 on our favorite day, the summer solstice! We were near the small town of Woodstock, Vermont; a place each of our families have always visited since we were both very young. A fun coincidence we realized shortly after meeting! Now it is a place we weekend together. He asked me to marry him during a hike and picnic in a quiet spot down in the Queechee gorge. We celebrated that night over dinner at Simon Pierce restaurant, watching hot air balloons fly over the river. A perfect day!
Whitney and Brian chose to have their wedding at The Combsberry Inn in Oxford Maryland- a beautiful property set on the water that they were able to use as their private wedding venue for the entire weekend. Guests stayed in St. Michaels, a small eastern shore town with fun restaurants, shopping and amazing views of the Chesapeake Bay. The couple chose to be married in Maryland as the bride is from the eastern shore area and both are graduates of Loyola College in Maryland.
Saja: What was your favorite part of the day?
Whitney: If I have to choose one, my favorite moment of the day was walking down the isle with my mom to Bron-yr-aur, an acoustic Led Zeppelin song we asked our guitarist to learn for the ceremony. It has be a dream of mine to walk down the isle to that song since I was 14 years old. It was a dream come true and so exciting to have the entire evening to look forward to at that point.
Saja: Is there anything in the photos we wouldn't notice right away?
Whitney: I decided at the last minute to get married barefoot and stayed that way for the entire reception! Initially I had shoes but it was such a nice day, it just felt right to kick them off and relax.
Saja: Which is your favorite photo and why?
Whitney: I don't think I can choose a favorite photo but I do love the pictures of Brian and I during our first dance to Across the Universe. It was another favorite moment from the day with our bluegrass band playing an amazing version of the song and my dress looks absolutely gorgeous if I do say so myself!
We couldn't agree more! Thanks so much to Natalie Reid of Natalie Lane Photography for these photos and thanks again to Whitney for being such a beautiful bride!
