Ashleigh & Kevin

Ashleigh & Kevin's quaint wedding at home is full of the charm and loving character we would expect from this amazing bride! After an intimate ceremony with family in the woods, the two celebrated marriage at their new house in upstate New York- on the very spot he proposed! Ashleigh looks incredibly elegant in HB6565, paired with some big, bold sunflowers! Special thanks to Sarah Isabel Lavers- a lifelong friend of Ashleigh’s who did a beautiful job at capturing this wedding in a genuine way. Congratulations again to these silly newlyweds and enjoy their modern love story...

Saja: How did you meet?

Ashleigh: Kevin and I met in White Plains, NY at a birthday celebration for Kevin’s sister. Within a few hours, we had abandoned the party of dancing and cocktails and found refuge in a craft beer establishment with some live music. The two of us talked for hours, sharing stories of snowboarding and traveling dreams, not realizing that we were embarking on a journey together for a lifetime

Saja: How did he propose?

Ashleigh: Kevin proposed to me on our property that we co-own in Pawling, NY. It was a spot where we frequently camped, laughed around the fire, and dreamed for the future. There was 4 feet of snow on the ground so Kevin had to dig out the fire pit! The spot I said yes is also the spot where we built our new home and got married.

Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there?

Ashleigh: Kevin and I had a very small ceremony with immediate family at our home on August 13, 2016. We exchanged vows under a handmade arbor made by our fathers while family sat on benches hand made by Kevin. The ceremony was lead beautifully by a local goat farmer from New Paltz NY, where she guided our guests through a tree planting ritual, signifying the new growth of our families. Our best friends were the witnesses! Amy Sanford and Jon Sanford (not related but have the same last name! Funny right? Amy had the best toast of the evening, everyone was in happy tears! Family and friends joined in the celebration about a month later when there was a large tent party in the back yard to celebrate Love, Life, and New Home with the Fealys!

Saja: Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed?

Ashleigh: Our photos were taken on a 99 degree day with 100% humidity! It was supposed to rain all day, but it held off long enough for our wedding. The setting of all the photos is around our property, the wood pile, fire pit, and the birch arbor are all personal and happy places for us on the property.

Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why?

Ashleigh: Our favorite photos are when we are being silly. We are really bad at posing, so it felt good to let loose and just be ourselves. We aren’t very good at being traditional! Also, we love the wind up camera selfie with Kevin’s father!!

Saja: What was your favorite part of the day?

Ashleigh: Our favorite part of the day was cutting the cake. Kevin’s mother made a beautiful tiered carrot cake (Kevin’s favorite) which we all shared together in the new house.
